Briones, Zaragoza, Valencia, Madrid

After what felt like forever of a wait, my spring break, or Semana Santa, finally began when my mom arrived to Madrid last Wednesday.  I surprised her and took her back to Burgos for a night where we explored the city.  I showed her the cathedral and other little stores and shops that I like to go.

The next day, we went on a wine tour at Vivanco Winery in Briones, which is in northern Spain near Logrono, known for the best wine in the country.  We were able to tour the wine museum and then get a tour of the bodega, or the cellars.  Even though the tour was all in Spanish, I successfully translated everything for my mom to understand.  We had a wonderful lunch and ended with a wine tasting.  The process of the wine making was more interesting and complex than I would have guessed.  The museum and wine tour was very informative and really cool!

After our wine tour in Briones, Spain the next morning we were off to Zaragoza!  The cathedral there was amazing and the plaza was also incredible.  We enjoyed lunch with the view of the cathedral also!

After Zaragoza, we were off to Valencia.  When we arrived the weather was perfect and we were able to tour the City of Sciences which is a popular tourist attraction in the city.  The following day was strictly a beach day which is just what we needed.  My mom even tried paella for the first time and liked it!... minus the shrimp with their heads still attached.

Our final stop on the tour was Madrid so that my mom could return back home.  It was a great trip and I wish she could still be here!!
